Lone Leaf

We've had this fairly large plant on a bureau in our bathroom for years. Lately it's kind of taken on a life of its own. I was in there the other day trying to dry my hair and the darn thing kept getting in the way. I pushed it aside and tried to shove my way to the mirror...but this lone leaf kept pushing back! When I finally stopped long enough to look at it, it was soooo beautiful...all back lit and glowing from the lamp under it! So I got my camera and took its picture...geez, I can take a hint.

Bowled Over

More bowls from a couple of weeks ago. Loved all the color I could incorporate with this set up.
This was the musical inspiration. (Right click on the colored word 'this' and go to Open Link in New Tab to continue looking at the art while you listen.)

Bowling

I painted this one weeks ago, just haven't gotten around to posting it yet. Once I started painting this, I was amazed at all that was going on in each bowl. Not even exactly sure where all of it was coming from, but I just painted what I saw!

The Overseer

A year or two ago a friend's friend let me wander her glorious flower gardens taking reference photos. I've done several paintings from that afternoon. Looking through some photos the other day, I discovered one of her cat who followed me everywhere, keeping an eye on me.
This great song was today's musical painting inspiration. I especially love the second half of it. Snappy, isn't it?

All Together Now

Here's some more of my fractured fruit. I had a hard time coming up with a title. After three tries, I finally came up with this one. It made me laugh out loud with this song stuck in my head. And after all, it's only fair it should be stuck in your head, too...right? (Right click on the colored word 'this' and go to Open Link in New Tab to continue looking at the art while you listen.)

Whatchu Lookin' At?

What can I say? I just plain had fun with this! A while back I went for an early morning ride to see the spring greens beginning to sprout at sunrise. I came across a small group of cows in a field. These two seemed intent on my photographing. As the painting progressed and all I had left was to add the background, I just kept looking and looking and I couldn't think of anything that would look more perfect than the red that was already there...so I left it. And I'm glad. And so are the cows.

Juiced

As I went to take this painting off the easel to begin another...I noticed something stuck in the highlight
...damn fruit flies! I guess I'll just take it as a compliment. :o)
This was today's musical inspiration. Best with BIG volume!

Double D

I altered the background of this one. I considered blue sky, but liked how the tops of the flowers sort of melted into the background. This was the musical inspiration. Thanks to Jennie for sending this musical link. I painted to the second video called Guest House. This is feel good music. :o) (Right click on the colored word 'this' and go to Open Link in New Tab to continue looking at the art while you listen.)

A Place in the Sun

This is our pup Rocksie. When preparing my palette for this one, I squeezed out a significant blob of burnt umber...after all, she is a chocolate lab. When the painting was finished?...I realized the blob of burnt umber was...untouched. This one's for my husband's birthday today.

Herb of the Gods

Doesn't garlic have the most beautiful sensuous curves and papery texture? It's gorgeous to paint. I don't really know whether it's a vegetable, herb or spice...but in our house, it's the herb of the gods! This was today's musical inspiration to move and groove to. Love it! Psychedelic Shrooms

Mini Me

This is me...in kindergarten. I looked worried! Do you remember when your mother cut your bangs? My poor mom did the best she could on mine with a BIG ole cow lick on either side! I painted this for my mom for Mother's Day.

Closing In

I painted this one for the sheer joy of it! Which, come to think of it, is why I create most of my paintings! The grapes are closing in. The lady bug's shadow just cracks me up. This was the GREAT musical inspiration.

Twinkle Toes

This is me. No, I'm not frilly, or particularly 'girlie' or even necessarily pink...but I DO love things that sparkle! This is my submission for this week's Daily Paintworks Challenge...self portraits.

Ewe Rock!

This was one of those happy accidents I didn't intend. When the painting got to this point, I noticed how the darker side of it looked more realistic and the fiery orange side looked sort of transparent and a bit surreal. I'm glad I knew when to quit.

Surfacing

Our daughter, Molly, got an underwater camera and was trying it out last summer. At the time I thought the photos were cool. I recently came across them again and decided to try and paint this one. I gotta admit I had no idea how to paint someone under water. I was pleased with how it turned out. Because of all the bubbles in front of her face, Molly suggested I call this one Air Head...but I just couldn't!
