Still working with the oils and I decided to try an experiment. With the same still life set up, I first tried this painting with oils. Then tried it with my pastels. At this point I feel like I control the pastels...but the oils control me!

They are both nice, but I just love pastels. :)
I've thought the same thing regarding those two mediums. Part of the problem I see is in getting the surface textures I like with oils.
