Say What??

This begins a series of new goats I spent time with at the Common Ground Agricultural Fair this past weekend. Such characters! I swear these guys were posing for me. This 'kid' and most of the others I'll be painting over the next couple of weeks belong to Ken and Janice Spaulding at Stony Knolls Farm in Saint Albans, Maine. They share their knowledge and expertise at Goat School. Here's some great moving music. (To continue looking at the art while you listen, right click on the colored word 'music' and go to Open Link in New Tab.)
Oil on panel, 6" x 6"

Goat Thumping

I get goat down, but I get up again;
you're never gonna' keep ears down;
I get goat down, but I get up again;
you're never gonna' keep ears down,

Brushing the paint this way,
brushing the paint that way.

I get goat down, but I get up again;
you're never gonna' keep ears down;
I get goat down, but I get up again;
you're never gonna' keep ears down,

I'm all ears, I'm all ears, I'm all hear,
turning those ears this way, turning those ears this way.

I get goat down, but I get up again;
you're never gonna' keep ears down;
I get goat down, but I get up again;
you're never gonna' keep ears down,

She paints a cad wink; she paints a crimson tongue;
she paints the goat that reminds her of the goat times;
she paints the hear the reminds her of the ear times.

I get goat down, but I get up again;
you're never gonna' keep ears down;
I get goat down, but I get up again;
you're never gonna' keep ears down;

But the art makes me smile, and I look again.
But the art makes me smile, and I look again.

I get goat down, but I get up again;
you're never gonna' keep ears down,
I get goat down, but I get up again;
you're never gonna' keep ears down!
