Intervention

I tried a little experiment today. I did two very similar paintings with two different light effects. First of all, I'm having fun working with black backgrounds. I wanted these stones to really glow so I applied two coats of black gesso to the background but left the spaces where the stones would be, white. This painting was the result. Tomorrow I'll post the second painting.  I was stymied... so my daughters came up with this title. Three heads are always better than one. Thanks Sadie and Molly.

Love the effect of the gessoeing that you did with this one. Also, love the title! Leave it to daughters:)

Lovely luminescence. I'm eager to see the other version. I think it's very useful to do these experiments- and share them!
