Diamonds and Emeralds

Every once in a while I create a painting I can't bear to part with. It's happened twice in nine years. It happened today. This one is mine. My friend Kath says I deserve it...so I'm going to take her word for it. These aren't actually diamonds and emeralds. They're smooth beach stones from Cape Breton Island. I'd rather have them than diamonds or emeralds.

Oh, I see why you wanted to keep this one. I love your paintings of stones and rocks. This one is especially wonderful.
Actually I really like all your paintings but your "diamonds and emeralds" speak to me most strongly.
