This painting is all about the grays. In her workshop, Carol Marine taught us how to mix beautiful, colorful grays with the three basic colors. This is a challenge for me since I love intense saturated colors. I do see the value(so to speak) of grays and focused here on using them to portray the stones.

They have these stones also on the beach in Greece. They are all sorts of beautiful grays... pink grays, blue grays, a soft yellow gray. And they all have rings.
I brought some back with me to Tennessee. The best kind of souvenir, one definitely made in the country of origin!
I agree about the best kind of souvenir, Shirley...my home is FILLED with bowls, baskets, buckets of stones!
this is right up my current alley so to speak. I'm studying values. Really studying them, like mixing color and comparing it to the value scale. It's been my nemesis.

Hey, we go to Parrsboro, N.S. every summer for a couple of weeks and plan to start going around to other areas for a change. Cape Breton being one.
Those are my roots on my mama's side.
I am completely enchanted by NS and totally immerse myself in it.
