I recently posted a painting, Falling, where I applied gold leaf to certain leaves and painted the background and other leaves in and around the metallic ones. This time I did just the opposite. I used gold leaf in the negative spaces around my oil painted leaves. Fun to work both ways. Since we here in mid Maine got snow on Halloween, I thought this title was appropriate.
Wow! All of those vibrant shades of red are just spectacular against the gold leaf. Interesting to read about your reverse process, too. You've managed great results both ways. Way to go!
At first I had to figure out what the little brown things were, puzzle pieces? Then all of a sudden I got it!! It is the red things, LEAVES! Great color and composition!
I just stumbled across your blog - so glad that I did. Your work is lovely - very vibrant. I especially love the feeling of these leaves falling in this one. Looking foward to seeing more !
