Rainbow

I love painting these smooth beach stones. I like the abstract quality. I painted a similar one earlier (click here to view) but the first began with a cadmium yellow under painting. This one began with cadmium red which added a warmth to it. I like them both.

    love this one...i'm teaching an acrylic painting workshop tomorrow, and these remind me of the recess eggs i am setting up next to some chocolates for our still life - the lesson being mostly about reflective colors in shadows

    This is so cool. Your little paintings of a grand presence. What kind of light(bulb) do you use? It intrigues me.

    Thanks so much for taking the time to comment. I love reading them each day. Katie, I use a regular lightbulb to light my still lifes...40 or 60 watts. I try to darken the surroundings as much as possible and use a low angle to get the strong and dramatic long shadows.
