A darling starling though black has a yellow bill, nope. A raven you would know, it's huge, really huge, nope. That leaves you something to crow about but, like the starling and raven, crows have dark eyes, so, nope and nope and nope. However, grackles, who have a purple-blue head and throat that appear black, they are the only black bird in Dixmont range with yellow eyes, so, as painted, it's likely a Common Grackle (Quiscalus quiscula).
I love the direction lines in this, Brenda. And, of course, the hot pink! We have many grackles, crows and ravens here, too, and it is hard to tell them apart at a quick glance.
