I've Got Your Number
Here's another goat from the Common Ground Fair. I'm really pleased with this one. I like the composition...and the way the eye and ear turned out. Here's some fun painting
music

I'm All Ears
Another of the country fair goats...how fun are they? I'm really taken with their eyes...and ears! Love the way the light shines through them. I found some really cool
music
to paint to...with a
very
cool video, too.

Say What??
This begins a series of new goats I spent time with at the
Common Ground Agricultural Fair
this past weekend.
Such characters! I swear these guys were posing for me.
This 'kid' and most of the others I'll be painting over the next couple of weeks belong to Ken and Janice Spaulding at Stony Knolls Farm in Saint Albans, Maine. They share their knowledge and expertise at
Goat School
. Here's some great
moving
music

Bad Hair Day
I think seagulls are such beautiful birds...the bright whiteness and velvety gray...one of my favorite birds probably because they live near the sea! I liked the way the wind ruffled this one's head feathers. It's my entry into a recent
Daily Paintworks
challenge.

Masked
I like the way the shadow of the wooden pen falls across the sheep's face. And of course that bright orange tag in his ear.

Over Easy
Took me a while to get this to balance the way I wanted it to, but luckily no scrambled eggs! Here's some of the
music
I listened to while painting.

Ham and Eggs
I LOVE color, but it's sometimes really fun to work with a bit more subtlety than I usually do. :o) Here's some of the inspiring
music
I painted to.

Green Eggs and Ham
Since I've been saving the occasional green egg I've gotten at the roadside stand nearby in order to paint them, I decided it was time to bring back the porcelain pig I found at Goodwill. This is the beginning of a little series...with a nod to Dr. Seuss. Here's some
music
that always gets me
pumped
to paint!

Fall Fest
I was going through some older reference photos the other day and came across this one. My favorite part is the bit of bright sunlight on the plastic bucket. Here's some fun painting

Coiffed
I've always loved this color combination...warm rosy reds and turquoise. Using the black background made it easier to lay the feathers in on top to get the black and white pattern. Love this ethereal
music
to paint to.

Half a Mind
I don't know my goats, but this is some type of beautiful one. Aren't they all? I love the way the light shines through the ears of these sheep and goats...and I was pleased with this one's eye...sort of Rastafarian, don'tcha think? Some great old feel good
music
for painting.

I love the turquoise tag this sheep has in its ear. It reminds me of the big gauges you sometimes see in people's ears these days...thus the title.

Out of My Mind
I gotta say, I'm CRAZY about this series. The kind that keeps you up at night wanting morning to come so you can begin again. The subject...the colors...it was all a
blast
to paint. Here's some great painting
music
. Go ahead...dance!

Lit Lace
In my opinion, nobody does Queen Anne's Lace like pastel artist,
Karen Margulis
. It's delicate and beautiful and always different. Every time I see one of her paintings of this lacy wildflower, I want to try painting it, too. This is the first time I actually have. I used yesterday's trick of blurring my reference photo. I think it helped. Can't get enough of this
music
.
