Casual Attire

I saw this guy at last year's Common Ground Fair. I came across his glamour shots in my reference photos several weeks ago and knew I wanted to paint him. I love the faded old bandana he has so casually slung around his neck. Some dudes are just Coolsville!

Baby Roo and a celebration!

A while back I'd painted a baby rooster here and it sold. This follow up was done from the same reference photo shoot and commissioned by a friend for her sweet daughter for Easter. These babies are so much fun to paint!

And on a more personal note:

Today is a momentous day. Six months after receiving a metastatic cancer diagnosis followed by 6 months of treatment, today marks the end of my 6th and final "Elixir of Life" (chemo) infusion!  I am celebrating...quietly, but a celebration nonetheless. And with that comes an overwhelming feeling of immense gratitude for the care, support and encouragement I've received. And now we wait...and I get on with the joy of living each day blissfully and with passion. This is my theme song for today...and every day. CRANK IT!!

Few Petals

I enjoyed the challenge of making something, a painting, out of not much. I have an old geranium that recently had one bloom with not many petals on it. I'm happy to be able to create a painting from it.

Carol's a henna artist, too! Who knew? Actually it was her first time using henna and working on a living breathing (laughing) canvas...and I think she did an awesome job! 

Then she was brave enough to let me give it a try...on her hand.

It's been a while since I've posted because my sweet buddy Carol was here visiting from Oregon. We had the BEST time! No painting but LOADS of soulful conversation and artistic inspiration!

Windswept

I painted this last week while we still had two feet of snow everywhere in our yard and fields. It's quickly melting and I dare say spring has officially arrived!

Honestly, I don't know if this is a Mr. or Mrs. but it sounded better as Mr. Casual. I love the nonchalant way he's chewing a bit of straw and the asymmetrical markings on his face...and those baby blues!

A Thing for Feathers

I have a' thing' for feathers. There's just something about them...their variety, their beauty, their lightness...I can't get enough of them. These were given to me by a friend with a beautiful parrot. More to come...
