Bold

Another of our sunflowers. Though I love all the varieties, the traditional BIG bright yellow ones with the huge dark centers are my favorite. Aflame

Tropical Storm Irene was good to us with only three days of no power. I painted from the light of a north window and am delighted to be back posting again. The sunflowers are in full bloom and continue to amaze me with their beauty and variety. Despite lack of rain early in the season, thanks to my husband, our yard and fields are full of them! Aflame also means eager and excited...I like that. More to come...

Plump Rump

I just LOVE these small square polka-dotted plates my dear friend gave me for my birthday. She gave me square bowls, too! You'll be seeing more of both I think. This was a fun one to paint...with all that color.

Robin Remembered

I'm really pleased with this one. Sometimes a piece just paints itself and the unfussiness (spell check says that's not a word, but it's the best one I can come up with) I strive for happens. This one was effortless...and fun!

The Space Between

(A nod to Dave Matthews for the title idea.) My, oh my...sometimes you all overwhelm me... in the best way. That you take the time, not only to view my paintings, but to leave your thoughtful and encouraging comments, well... it just positively MAKES MY DAY!

Light Kiss

Nosegay

I recently spent a day visiting the most incredible public gardens. I shot a TON of reference photos. And what did I decide to paint first from the excursion? This simple small vase of flowers I noticed on the shelf in a bathroom! :o)

Full Circle

This was kind of a cool experiment. I used metallic gouache to tone the panel. It's a warm coppery color. Then I painted the stones, shadows and some implications of the beach sand around them. I then went back in with the gouache to shine it up a bit. It's really quite a lovely glow in person, but of course I wasn't able to capture the subtle sheen of copper pigment digitally. You'll just have to visit me in Dixmont to see for yourself...okay?
