Weebles Wobble

Pears have long been my favorite subject to paint. I particularly liked the brush strokes in this one, a bit looser than  my usual. I was also pleased with the light and the interaction of the pears. This is one of my favorites.

The Feather or the Egg

This is the last in this green egg series I did a while ago. I think what drew me to the whole series was the clean lines and simplicity. I liked the combination of blue-green egg, blue vase and blue jay feather in this one. Still life makes me happy.

Featherweight

A while back I did a series of paintings with these beautiful pale green eggs and white feathers. This is my favorite in the series. I love the colors and the shadow cast by the feather onto the egg and table.

In the Flesh

What I like about this painting...well, other than the fact that it's pears!...is the way the shadow plays a part in the composition. I also just like the composition in general and the way you can just barely see a hint of the warm skin.

To Be or Not To Be

I love the simplicity of this painting. The single blue-green egg, the white plate and cloth.

Schoodic Seagull

It's been fun to go back and choose some of my favorite paintings and to really give thought to what makes them so. I always liked the graphic quality of the large slabs of cliff-like rocks in the background and the bird's warm glow. It's much more subtle and softer on the original art. And of course his slightly wind ruffled "do."
** Thank you for your caring words of encouragement regarding my recent post. I am grateful for and bolstered by each and every one. Bren

Woody and Update

Those of you who have been following my blog for a while may know that I was diagnosed with metastatic cancer(squamous cell carcinoma) last Thanksgiving. I've been undergoing treatment ever since. I'm currently in the midst of the second round of treatment and I've gotta admit, it's kickin' my butt.  My goal is, always, to be at my easel, but I'm not sure at this point when that will happen. In the meantime, I would love to re-post for you some of my all time favorite paintings that are still available.  Woody is one of those.

St. Esprit Beach Grass

This is one of the two landscapes I did on Cape Breton. I gave the other one away before scanning or photographing it. Doh.
Our land is in St. Esprit. There are a few snaps below. See why it's my favorite place on earth?

Snackin'

This is the last of the goat paintings I did in Cape Breton. I think it's my favorite. Maybe because of all that intense bright yellow goin' on! I also did a couple of landscapes, but gifted one to a friend in Canada and forgot to scan it. Duh.  I'll post the other tomorrow.

Because I'm Happy

I painted this guy while I was in Cape Breton a couple of weeks ago. It's one of my recent favorites.  I really love the colors...and his expression. I've provided a little sound track for you here.

Pink Goatee

We're back! And experiencing, as my friend Suz says, "re-entry." Back to reality after wilderness camping on the beach in Cape Breton for 3 weeks. It was glorious and wonderful and relaxing and perfect. I did 7 paintings(this is one of them), read 9 books, walked the beach daily and collected countless stones!
I guess I'm on a sheep/goat kick cuz I just can't get enough of painting them these days. More to come...
