Warm Wools

I really enjoy painting yarn. So much color! The brush strokes sort of naturally lend themselves to the strands of yarn. Here's some shakin' music

A Little Behind

This is an older painting that I rediscovered today. I reworked the background and like it better.

I also photographed some steps along the way so you can see the process of yesterday's painting, but forgot to post it then. So here it is below. And here's yesterday's painting.

Sun Kissed

This is the view from one of my bedroom windows. I'm pleased with this one. I like the colors and the way the late afternoon sun glances off the tree trunks. Here's some of the sweeet  easy music I listened to while painting.

In Her Glory

It's been apple season here in Maine for a while now. I always pick at our local orchard and spend lots of time savoring the smells, sights and sounds...and photographing. Though I spent lots of time trying to get it correct, the color of this one is much better in person.

Waiting on Winter

I really like the interesting shape of these twisted skeins of yarn some companies make. And I like surrounding myself with all kinds, textures and colors of yarn even better. Here's some of the music I painted to today. I like it...uh-huh, uh-huh. :o)

Cool Wools

More wool, as promised. But in a different form...off the sheep!  Painting yarn forces you to really squint and be choosey about your strokes. Believe it or not there are relatively few individual strands here. Here's some great music by the BEST BAND EVER.

Come Closer

Here's the last of the goats...until the next one! I'll  miss them, but I've had my fill for a while. On to other things! Here's some great goat painting music

Peachy Sheep

I've always liked this color combination...sort of teal and a rosy peach. And those are the colors I saw in this sheep...I swear! One more goat that I'll post tomorrow...then it's on to more wool...the kind in balls and skeins. Here's some great sheep painting music. Hey!

Me and My Shadow II

It cracked me up the way the one goat is peering from behind the other...almost like a two headed goat! I'm in love with their eye lashes. This is great music for painting. I can't help but paint/dance...can you?

Is That You?

I hope you're not tired of the goats! I've got a few more I'd like to do. They just speak to me! Well...not literally. I'm really getting to know their facial anatomy which is one of the benefits of doing a series. Enjoy this painting music (To continue looking at the art while you listen, right click on the colored word 'music' and go to Open Link in New Tab.)

Winter Wools

This time of year in Maine just makes me want to make soup and knit socks and mittens...not that I have time! But I enjoy painting yarn. An excuse, if one is needed, to use tons of color in a painting. This is Peace Fleece, cool name, huh? And here's some kool music to paint to. Bette Davis Eyes

I am absolutely delighted today to be able to say I am now a member of The Daily Painters . :o) This gallery was founded in 2006 by artist, Micah Condon, and was the first juried site of daily painting artists. It is truly a thrill and an honor to be among such diverse and richly talented artists.
About today's painting...these guys are so much fun to paint!  There's a lot of color in a white goat. Here's some of the music I painted to. I think it's appropriate. (To continue looking at the art while you listen, right click on the colored word 'music' and go to Open Link in New Tab.)

Next!

Not only are these animals fun to paint, I'm having a blast with the backgrounds!  I got out my seldom used Permanent Rose mixed with a bit of Ultramarine for this one. I was really drawn to the back lighting. I get the feeling he's waiting in line for someone to yell, "NEXT!" Here's some great painting music. On Tip Toes

Toes? I don't know if sheep and goats have toes but doesn't this guy look like he can just barely reach to see over the edge of the painting? Here's some fun HOT music to paint to. ;o) (To continue looking at the art while you listen, right click on the colored word 'music' and go to Open Link in New Tab.)

Only Half Listening

I like the background color of this one with the gold of the sheep. I used Ultramarine blue with a bit of white for it. Here's some sweet painting music. (To continue looking at the art while you listen, right click on the colored word 'music' and go to Open Link in New Tab.)

Whisper Sweet Nothings

Goats, goats and more goats...and some sheep in line, too. The 'sweet spots' in these paintings are definitely the way the light catches their eyes and shines through their ears. I can't get enough!
I have been painting daily...honest. They've been Christmas surprise commissions ( shhh ), so I've not been able to post them yet! Here's some of my new painting music. (To continue looking at the art while you listen, right click on the colored word 'music' and go to Open Link in New Tab.)

Surf's Up

Many more goats to come, but I took a brief diversion to paint a couple of commissions and these Cape Breton beach stones. I like the way the coarse brush strokes of the black gessoed background show texture. Tomorrow, it's back to the sheep! Here's some fun painting music.
