BFF (Best Friends Forever)

This is Bambie. Bambie and our daughter's friend, Becky, were best friends for thirteen years. Bambie passed away recently and this painting is my gift to Becky.  And some fun music to boot. Winner's Circle

This is the last (for now) in this series of ten paintings. This might be my favorite. My focus has been to allow the color of the subject to shine by mixing and using grays to surround it ...and to have some fun. The hardest part of this painting was getting these very mischievous tomatoes to stay put! Here's the musical inspiration for today. White on White

Sometimes I just don't want a series to end! One more to go for tomorrow...until I can find some more produce. White on white is such a challenge. I did another similar painting I'll post in a few days. I'm wondering how a predominantly white painting would work on a red or yellow board as opposed to this black one. Will have to try that in the future. My daughter and I just got tickets to see The Beach Boys at the Bangor waterfront in June. We're getting ready...so here's today's musical inspiration. Lemon Aid

Yet another in my featured palette color series. A friend suggested this title for a previous painting, but I thought it was perfect for this one. Doesn't it look like the lemons are looking to the tube of Cadmium Yellow Lemon for guidance?...assistance?...color ?? The musical accompaniment. Red Red Vine

I don't paint tomatoes often, so this was a fun one. Still focusing on neutral grays for a color pop (well, as neutral as a lover of color can make them!) and the translucency of the fruit.  Here's some appropriate music for your listening pleasure. Grapes Draped

Still making my way through my color palette with this series. Don't know if it's apparent on your monitors, but I was really trying to capture the translucency of the grapes. Here's the music that got me going.  (To continue looking at the art while you listen, right click on the colored word 'music' and go to Open Link in New Tab.)

Orange You Glad I Didn't Say Persimmon?

Here's the second painting in this current series. I love the idea of including the paint colors with the other objects. My intention with this series is to focus on the single color and mix up lots of beautiful grays to let the color 'rest' in. I am LOVING it! Lots more to come. Some rockin' music for your listening pleasure. (To continue looking at the art while you listen, right click on the colored word 'music' and go to Open Link in New Tab.)

Not So Mellow Yellow

This painting is the start of a series I'm very excited about. Just having fun with it...and isn't that what it's all about? Stay tuned over the next week to watch the series unfold. Memories of Meme

This beautiful transparent mint green platter was given to me by my dear friend after her mom passed away. It belonged to her mother, Meme. Since that time I've had it in mind for painting. Lately I've wanted to paint the rich waxy warmth of persimmons. They seemed like the perfect pairing. Now I'm wondering, besides painting, what does one do with persimmons? Enjoy the music (To continue looking at the art while you listen, right click on the colored word 'music' and go to Open Link in New Tab.)

Seeing White

I did this painting as part of this week's Daily Paintworks Challenge. It was a fun one...there's so much color in white!  I'll be trying some more. Here's the musical inspiration. Hide and Seek

Who doesn't love painting lemons...all that rich intense yellow! The sunlit sides of the lemons weren't as light as I had envisioned. So this is the first time I've ever tried glazing. Once the initial painting was dry,  I used Liquin to thin some Cad Yellow Lemon a bit and brushed it over the sections I wanted brighter. I've included a before and after photo...not sure you can tell much difference, but I can on the original painting.

In honor of the
beautiful near full moon, this is what I was dancing to as I painted. (To continue looking at the art while you listen, right click on the colored word 'this' and go to Open Link in New Tab.)

Wheel of Fortune

When I saw this week's challenge at Daily Paintworks, this is the first wheel I thought of. At first I didn't put the color words on the wheel , but after my husband thought the brushes were resting on a plate, I decided to. I get a charge out of painting colors...with colors.  Like when I use paint to render globs of paint or this color wheel. I don't know, it just makes me smile.  The title comes from feeling fortunate daily to be able to paint. Now, just waiting for the fortune to roll in... ;o)  Here's some dancing music to paint to. Tip Me Over

Here's the second of three paintings I did recently of these cups. This one (above) was done on a panel coated with black gesso. Yesterday's was on a Cad Red ground. You can check that one out here. And here's some fun music to paint to. (To continue looking at the art while you listen, right click on the colored word 'music' and go to Open Link in New Tab.)

Leaning Tower

This is the first of two similar paintings. This one was done on a red ground...tomorrow's, on a black background. I like both...so I don't think I'll choose. :o)  Some music for your pleasure and mine.
